COPA-DATA is a Salzburg based innovative leader in HMI/SCADA software (automation) for industries such as automobile, machine engineering, energy and production technology. COPA-DATA consists of 130 employees and has worked with customers such as Festo, VA TECH, BMW and Audi.

Project details

Research and development project to visualize the future look & feel of the COPA-DATA runtime. Screens for different application areas such as e.g “Energy Management Systems” or “Production Line Management System” are created, exploring new approaches to usability and visualization. The task is to make complex systems look easy and intuitive and create an appealing and functional environment.

Research project: Budweiser bottle design

Customer Details:

Budweiser Budvar is a world-famous premium brewery based in Budweis (Czech Republic), the most successful import beer in Austria and the second best selling brand among import beer in Germany. Over the course of its existence, Budweiser Budvar has received countless awards all over the world and has established itself as the world’s smallest, great beer brand.

Task:

Conduct a research and development project for Budweiser Budvar N.C., Czech Republic. The task was to develop a design for a new 0,33l bottle that would attract the audience of modern gastro-outlets, age 20-35 years old, higher education, quality conscious, explorative people with a high income who dislike everything mainstream.
The task was to develop a design for the new 0,33l bottle with a special focus on the modern aspects of the on-trade segment.

Solution:

3 outstanding characters called Egyptienne, Crystal and Granat who clearly refer to the rich history of Budweiser Budvar while underlining the unique character in a modern, stylish way. Design of the new Budweiser Website for Budweiser Budvar Austria. And Budweiser Budvar.

Sound Nomads

Site-specific sound installation and performance for the international “factory” exhibition of the Museums of Bat Yam (Tel Aviv / Israel).

Project details

SOUND NOMADS is an art project by a Berlin based media artist GER GER. It is a combination of sound art, music, public art, performance, interactive installations and video.

In 2009, Matthias Cermak joined Sound Nomads to create a site-specific sound installation and performance for the international “factory” exhibition for the Museums of Bat Yam (Tel Aviv / Israel). This entailed 2 weeks of traveling, recording, brainstorming, and constructing a setup, in addition to 3 days of live performances in May 2009.

Location: Hangar, Industrial Area (Factory Exhibition), Bat Yam, ISRAEL

Preparation: MAY 14-25. Sound recordings, composing, sensor calibrations, assembling, hardware/software
development/adjustments

Technology: Glowing water/ing cans as instruments, metaphorical watering sounds that trickle away, triggers, frequency shifts and delay rhythms. Ventilators as the percussion section, maintaining the changing time signature. Doorways of the hangar connected. Powered by light/distance/pressure sensors.
